Priorities
Affordability
Families across the 29th District are facing the challenges of the affordability crisis, as the cost of housing, groceries, utilities, and healthcare has outpaced wages for too long. Working families in Parkland, Spanaway and Tacoma are feeling this every day, and unfortunately this has become the norm. As a working mom of two, this isn't an abstract policy for me. It is my life, and it is the lives of my community.
Washington state has one of the most regressive tax structures in the country. Right now, working families pay a significantly higher share of their income in taxes than the wealthiest Washingtonians, and that is more than just unfair. It is a policy choice, and it is one we can change which is why I support flipping that system. I back the recently passed millionaires tax that asks the wealthiest in our state to finally pay their fair share, so that we can fund the schools, services, and infrastructure that working families in the 29th depend on. No family earning $50,000 a year should carry a heavier tax burden than someone earning $5 million.
In the State House, I will fight for real affordability solutions that reflect the full picture of what families need to thrive. I will support legislation to expand the Working Families Tax Credit and ensure more households across our district can access it. I'll push to strengthen consumer protections against price gouging and advocate for state investments that bring down the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs for everyday Washingtonians. Fixing our tax structure is not just about fairness. It is about unlocking the revenue we need to make all of these investments possible.
Childcare
As a working mom of two, I have lived the childcare crisis. I know what it means to weigh the cost of care against the cost of missing work, and I know how many families in our district are making impossible choices every single day. Childcare is not a luxury, but infrastructure, and it is long past time Olympia treated it that way.
In the State House, I will champion continued investment in Washington's Working Connections Child Care program and push to expand eligibility so more families in the 29th can access subsidized care without falling through the cracks. I'll advocate for increased compensation for childcare workers, because we cannot build a stable system on poverty wages. I also support expanding funding for early learning programs and after-school care so that parents across the 29th district can work with confidence knowing their children are safe and supported.
When I'm in Olympia fighting for affordable childcare, I won't just be speaking as a legislator. I'll be speaking as a mom who has lived through this struggle.
Supporting Workers
The working families of the 29th District built this region, and they deserve a representative in Olympia who will fight to protect their rights and dignity on the job. As a working mom who has navigated workforce systems firsthand, I know that strong unions and robust labor protections are not just good for workers. They are the foundation of a healthy middle class
In the State House, I will be an unapologetic advocate for workers' rights across three pillars: collective bargaining, safe working conditions, and retirement security.
Collective bargaining is one of the most powerful tools workers have, and I will fight any attempt to weaken it. I support strengthening protections so that union members can negotiate fair wages and benefits without intimidation or retaliation, and I'll push to close loopholes that allow employers to misclassify workers and strip them of the protections they've earned.
Safe working conditions are non-negotiable. I will support stronger enforcement of workplace safety standards and advocate for increased resources for Washington's Department of Labor and Industries so that every worker in our district has someone in their corner. No one should have to choose between their safety and their paycheck.
Pension security is a promise that must be kept. Public employees, tradespeople, and workers across our district have spent careers earning their retirement, and I will fight to protect and strengthen pension programs rather than balance budgets on the backs of the people who built our communities. Decades of service deserve to be honored.
I also believe every worker deserves a living wage. I will support legislation that keeps Washington's minimum wage tied to the real cost of living and ensures that wage theft is treated as the serious offense it is. In Olympia, I will champion apprenticeship pipelines that connect workers throughout the 29th to family-sustaining careers in the trades, healthcare, and the clean energy economy.
Every worker in our district deserves to be treated with respect, paid a fair wage, and given the freedom to organize. I'll bring that fight to the State House.
Housing
The 29th district, as well as the state in its entirety, is facing an affordable housing crisis that demands immediate and innovative solutions. As a former Housing Navigator, I've worked directly with chronically homeless individuals and understand the barriers they face. Addressing this crisis requires comprehensive policies that go beyond short-term relief, and in Olympia, I'll have the tools to make that happen at scale.
In the State House, I will fight to expand state funding for affordable housing construction and preservation, strengthen tenant protections, and increase resources for shelter capacity and transitional housing programs that help residents stabilize their lives. I'll work to reform the Growth Management Act to remove barriers to mixed-use and middle-density development, empowering communities like ours to build more housing without sacrificing neighborhood character.
I also support expanding state-backed homeownership programs, down payment assistance, and foreclosure prevention resources so that families in the 29th can put down roots and weather economic hardship without losing everything. Housing stability isn't just a local issue. It requires state investment and the political will to take on the systems that keep housing out of reach.
In Olympia, I will champion funding for the wraparound services that address the root causes of homelessness: mental health care, substance use treatment, and job training. I'll build partnerships between state agencies and the local organizations already doing this work on the ground in my district. Everyone in the 29th deserves a safe, stable place to call home, and I'll bring that fight to the State House.
Safe and Healthy Communities
A well connected community is a healthier community. District 29 has challenges with transit access to health and government services that improve quality of life. As your Representative, I promise to prioritize making public transit accessible and reliable in all communities across our district.
A healthy community depends on access to affordable, fresh groceries. The recent closure of the South Tacoma Fred Meyer on Pacific Avenue has been deeply felt and has worsened existing gaps in grocery access across the 29th Legislative District. This closure is just one example of how this issue has not been adequately prioritized in the district. I will work to expand affordable food access across the entire 29th Legislative District, with a focus on the communities most impacted by these challenges.
Every community deserves to feel safe. To make this a reality, addressing youth gun violence must also be a top priority. Programs like gun buybacks, lockbox distribution, and community-led initiatives are essential for keeping firearms off our streets and reducing harm.
When families have access to affordable housing, living wages, and economic stability, we create safer, healthier neighborhoods for everyone. Together, we can build a District, and state, where all residents feel secure and supported.
Keeping our Immigrant Communities Safe
As the proud daughter of immigrants, I know first hand the difficulties our immigrant, refugee, and migrant communities are facing. Given the current presidential administration's harmful policies, our local governments must step up to protect immigrants within our communities.I am committed to making sure our state protects our immigrant communities against increasing federal attacks. I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure Washington continues to be a sanctuary where people feel secure and comfortable, regardless of their immigration status. Washington must take concrete actions that ease the lives of immigrants.
Drawing on my experience in DEIA consulting, I bring a background in analyzing government systems and tackling systemic issues. My approach to reforming policy and departments will be community-centered, always prioritizing the best interests of everyone in District 29 and fostering a true sense of belonging for all our residents.
Environment
The people most impacted by climate change are households with fewer financial resources. In District 29, air quality is poorer in lower income neighborhoods, and residents have limited access to tree coverage and green space that improves quality of life and individual health
As a mother of two, I rely on these free, public greenspaces, and so do our senior and youth populations. I believe preventative action is necessary to provide our children with a bright and healthy future. This means investments in sustainable infrastructure that creates green union jobs, immediate action that reduces carbon emissions and water waste, and protecting the natural spaces across District 29, and creating more of them.
As your Representative, I promise to prioritize keeping our District healthy by taking action on environmental concerns that impact our region.
Reproductive Rights
Washington has led the way in protecting reproductive freedom, and I'm committed to keeping it that way.
I believe access to reproductive health care is not a privilege. It's a basic part of comprehensive medical care. That means fighting to preserve and expand access to contraception, protecting our clinics and the providers who serve our communities, and ensuring that cost is never the barrier that stands between a patient and the care they need.
Washington cannot be passive while federal rollbacks threaten to reach our borders. I will be a consistent, clear voice in the House for policies that protect our residents and push back against any effort to limit reproductive autonomy in our state.
